Your MPOWER loan application may have been declined for several reasons; you’ll receive a letter explaining the reason for the denial. Here are some common reasons for which your application may get declined:
- Ineligible School or Program: If the school or program is not among MPOWER's list of eligible schools or degree programs, the application will be declined upon review of the documents.
- Academic Performance: If you have completed at least one semester, your academic standing is part of our review process to gauge your successful completion.
- Creditworthiness: While we don't require a credit score or history, we evaluate them. If your credit report shows any late payments, collections, or potential delinquencies, your application may be declined. Click here for more information.
- Future Debt-to-Income Ratios: MPOWER assesses your projected loan repayments and earnings to understand if they’re manageable after graduation.
- Insufficient Funding to Complete the Program: If your declared funding and requested loan amount do not cover the entire cost of the educational program, the application may be denied. To know how much you can borrow from MPOWER, please click here.
