Specific citizenship and residency criteria must be met to refinance your current student loan with MPOWER. Here are the key requirements:
U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents: U.S. citizens and permanent residents are eligible to apply for refinancing their student loans. You must submit proof of citizenship, such as a U.S. passport or birth certificate, or proof of permanent residency, such as a green card.
DACA Recipients: DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) recipients can apply for refinancing. MPOWER requires an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) indicating DACA status.
International Students:
- Eligible Visa Holders: Students with OPT (Optional Practical Training) authorization or any visa status that allows them to work in the U.S. for at least two years are eligible.
- Living and Working in the U.S.: Applicants must reside and work in the U.S. for at least three months before applying and hold a visa that grants permission to work in the U.S. for at least two years from the date of submission of your refinance application.
Ineligibility for Canadian Citizens and Residents: Canadian citizens and permanent residents residing in Canada are not currently eligible to refinance their loans with MPOWER.
By meeting these citizenship and residency requirements, you can apply for loan refinancing with MPOWER, which can help you manage your educational expenses more effectively.
